Approx. 11 miles, 350ft of climbing, 1-1.5hrs
Rush Creek is a great spot for beginners, a quick spin before or after work, or any other time you need a short getaway! Entering the trail network from the Park-n-Ride side, the bustle of US-101 fades and you find yourself in nature surprisingly quickly.
When you enter the trail, it is a wide and flat fireroad that gradually reduces to doubletrack, and eventually further reduces down to singletrack. As the trail narrows, it also adds in more turns and small rolling hills. It is a great spot to practice basic off-road skills for beginners, youngsters, etc! It's also an excellent spot to get your arms around an off-road drop-bar bike like a cyclocross or Gravel model.
This ride is short and by it follows the water line which means it includes very little elevation change. In fact, if the ride is done as an out-and-back (once you pop out on Bahia Drive, just go back the way you came) you can eliminate almost all of the climbing. If you are brand new to cycling, this is a great place to start!
